STRUCTURAL TIMBER CONNECTORS / ADJUSTABLE POST BASES

Simpson Strong-Tie APB100/150 Adjustable Elevated Post Base

The Simpson Strong-Tie APB100/150 is a highly versatile, precision-engineered adjustable structural timber post support designed for solid and glulam timber columns. Perfect for structures like garage ports and pergolas, it features an integrated adjustment screw that allows the installer to set a custom, precise stand-off clearance height ranging anywhere from 100mm to 150mm. Accommodating timber post dimensions from 100x100mm up to 200x200mm, this elevated configuration isolates the column timber base from ground moisture, mitigating fungal decay risks while complying with modern engineering preferences.

CRITICAL STRUCTURAL SPECIFICATION: LATERAL RESTRAINT MANDATE

Like all standard stand-off structural supports, the APB100/150 operates strictly as a pinned structural connection. It is engineered exclusively to resist vertical axial loads and downward forces—it is not designed to withstand bending moments or rotational momentum. To maintain structural integrity, the top of the timber post must be rigidly secured via an approved lateral restraint configuration (such as floor diaphragms, cross-bracing, or braced beam structures).

Click here to read our industrial engineering guide on why lateral restraint is required.

KEY STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGES

  • Dynamic Threaded Height Adjustment: Integrated structural screw mechanism permits variable leveling adjustments from 100mm up to 150mm on-site prior to final loading.
  • Reliable Compression Loading: Solid structural engineering provides a robust downward characteristic capacity profile of up to 64.8 kN.
  • Protected Stand-Off Architecture: Safely elevates timber columns clear of pooling slab moisture, creating a critical structural break that stops decay trajectories.
  • Certified Standards Alignment: Fully ETA and CE approved component array guaranteeing dependable, uniform performance specifications under load.

How We Keep Your Builds Moving

We operate our own dedicated logistics vans out of Luton alongside leading national freight carriers, ensuring full trace visibility from our warehouse shelves straight to site.

01.
Instant Hub Sorting: Approved orders pass straight to active pick queues via our localised automated barcode stock framework.

Heavy Component Packing: Structural products are safely stored in industrial reinforced cartons or strapped securely to pallets to fully safeguard fine threads and anti-corrosion zinc surfaces.
03.
Tailgate On-Site Offloading: Bulk shipments drop cleanly at your structural site boundary line via integrated tail-lift carrier transport systems.

Logistics Scope & Out-Of-Zone Shipments

Standard courier pricing arrays map explicitly to structural mainland UK postal grids. Supplementary transit routing variables, variable lead times, or specialised carrier adjustments apply across high-altitude or outlying maritime zones:

  • Scottish Highlands & Islands: Postcode structures matching KW, IV, PA, and PH configurations map to alternative transit grids. Please review checkout calculations for accurate real-time weights.
  • Northern Ireland, Isle of Man & Channel Islands: Water-crossing logistical paths require clean custom manifesting lines.
  • Heavy Oversized Pallets: Extended multi-ply girder connectors, structural space straps, 3m channel unistrut, or high-volume masonry hangers pass through dedicated heavy haulage grids.
