STRUCTURAL TIMBER FIXINGS / PREMIUM WOOD FASTENERS

SPAX 8.0 x 120mm Countersunk T-STAR plus T40 Wood Screw

The SPAX 8.0 x 120mm Countersunk Screw is a premium structural wood fastener engineered for high-performance heavy timber construction, roof framing, and structural carpentry. Precision manufactured in Germany, this heavy-duty screw features a flush-fitting countersunk head configuration equipped with groundbreaking ground serrations and MULTIhead pocket technology that smoothly cuts through wood fibres to self-countersink without tearing. Coated in SPAX's proprietary WIROX finish, it delivers an exceptionally high level of corrosion protection compared to conventional bright zinc plating benchmarks. The advanced mechanical profile eliminates the need for time-consuming pre-drilling in most softwoods, drastically reducing installer tool wear and accelerating on-site framing workflows.

CRITICAL COMMERCIAL ORDERING PROTOCOL

Please note that this item is strictly PRICED PER HUNDRED but conveniently SOLD INDIVIDUALLY to accommodate precise site installation quantities without forcing excess box waste overheads.

CRITICAL STRUCTURAL APPLICATION & ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY MANDATE

This structural timber screw relies on three integrated proprietary engineering designs to achieve its maximum calculated holding capacities. First, the T-STAR plus drive layout utilises an additional recess parameter inside the T40 star centre to force an exact mechanical bit lock, successfully eliminating cam-out slipping vectors and wobble even at oblique driving angles. Second, the prominent 4CUT point configuration pushes wood grains aside fluidly to reduce timber splitting tension, behaving like a miniature drill path. Finally, the partial thread profile forces the upper non-threaded shank section to spin freely while the deeper thread section bites tightly into the rear timber member, creating a high-pressure clamp that pulls the joining wood sections firmly flush together.

KEY STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGES

  • WIROX Anti-Corrosion Shield: Provides a high-grade surface defence barrier that maintains structural steel load pathways across changing moisture environments.
  • Wobble-Free T-STAR plus Lock: Custom drive configuration features a deeper indexing recess point to eliminate drill bit slip, protecting surrounding structural timber faces.
  • High-Force Partial Thread Clamping: Smooth upper shank area lets the screw head pull the top timber panel down firmly against the structural base frame.
  • Flexible Order Optimisation: Item protocol is configured natively to be sold individually based on a clear per hundred scale pricing format, avoiding excessive site inventory clutter.

Logistics Scope & Out-Of-Zone Shipments

Standard courier pricing arrays map explicitly to structural mainland UK postal grids. Supplementary transit routing variables, variable lead times, or specialised carrier adjustments apply across high-altitude or outlying maritime zones:

  • Scottish Highlands & Islands: Postcode structures matching KW, IV, PA, and PH configurations map to alternative transit grids. Please review checkout calculations for accurate real-time weights.
  • Northern Ireland, Isle of Man & Channel Islands: Water-crossing logistical paths require clean custom manifesting lines.
  • Heavy Oversized Pallets: Extended multi-ply girder connectors, structural space straps, 3m channel unistrut, or high-volume masonry hangers pass through dedicated heavy haulage grids.
